Historical Context


  • The start of the war beginning with the German invasion of Poland. Britain and France declared war on Germany two days later. That’s what started the war.
  • In 1933 January 30th Adolf Hitler started to gain more power. They started to put propaganda about Jews. In 1939 Germany conquered Lodz
  • The early 1940s the armies of Nazi Germany swept across Europe. They conquered many countries.1940 the first ghetto was made with 164,000. 
  • Hitler started sending Jews to ghetto. Hitler’s goal was to completely isolate them from the outside world. Germans saw it as a dirty area.
  • They did this so it would be easier to send them to concentration camps. So they would have to track them one by one. So they just gather them in one area.
  • 1940 may 10 Germans invades Holland, Belgium, and France. 1941 April 6 Germany invades Yugoslavia. German attacks the Soviet Union.
  • 1941 July start the final solution. 1941 Japan attacks Pearl Harbor. the USA and Britain declare
  • 1941 first mass execution in Auschwitz. The United States entered the war. which decrease the population of Jews
  • Auschwitz was one of the biggest. Over 6 million Jews were killed.
    The Nazis didn’t only kill Jews, they killed homosexuals and the disabled and way more.
  • When people started to go the concentration camps the biggest thing was getting ill. Most people would die on their way over there. And not many people wouldn't live after that
  • At the end of the war many people die. hitler killed him self befor they could get him. the war ended in 1945
  • the war lasted 12 years. the only reason why people know what happened is because of other diary.
